Arum Lily & Stacked (tiered) Cake Project

What is very absolutely brilliant is that many of the students had never made these or any other flowers before and most had not used fondant  or covered a cake, but they all produced amazing results.  The project for my students was to cover real fruit cakes (made by the students) in marzipan and fondant a.k.a sugar paste, stack them in a secure manner, stencil a side design, & pipe shell or other designs around the base of the cakes with royal icing.  Some of the students who had more experience piped microdots on the base of the cakes.  Then finally students were required to make Calla (Arum) Lilies and leaves.  Some of my students decided to showcased roses.
