Bike Birthday Cake
Nicki Pickett has sent us this fabulous cake of a motorbike she has pieced together with icing. She printed a picture from the internet for inspiration and made her own template to create it. Doesn't it look great. Her brother certainly loved it!

The Prince of Whales Cake
Jen Dennel (aka JD) made this adorably cute whale cake she says;
The cake was for my boss's grandson who is called Angus. They are having a christening party in Cornwall hence the beachy theme. The cake is a Dundee fruit cake - I didn't go with the darker heavier fruit cake because not everyone likes it and as the christening isn't until Sunday a sponge wouldn't have been fresh enough by then. I'm pleased with how its turned out and my boss is very pleased with it.
I'm hoping you will be impressed when i tell you that the piping of the name was done freehand and yes i did lift the nozzle well up off the cake - when I'm piping all I hear in my ear is you saying higher higher!!!!!
Colette says...
Of course I am impressed with the icing - FABULOUS!!!...
Square Buttercream Cake
Naheed's pretty square buttercream 11th birthday cake piped in pink and blue with a star nozzle, coupled with additional matching flower blossom detail at the base of the board.

Piped Flowers in Royal Icing
Using petal and leaf nozzles students were required to produce toppers for cupcakes and the results are simply amazing. The flowers piped were Blossoms, Roses, Sweet Peas and Fantasy Flowers. Again, as with any technique, perfection comes with time and practice...
These designs can also be replicated with buttercream.
And there's more...
Class Brush Embroidery
Brush embroidery is a very difficult technique in royal icing. It requires a great deal of patience, the right brush and the correct consistency of icing, with all these factors combined, you can produce beautiful work and they are also effective as cookie favours. The most common pattern of brush embroidery are flowers and below are some student's fantastically valiant efforts.
Firstly the CALAT students...
Next we have a selection of the SCOLA students

"C'mon 'The Irons'..." Footy Strip.
The Irons Football strip |
This is Irene's fantastic football shirt cake. The team strip is Scunthorpe United. Irene says,
"I was able to get the logo printed on rice paper from an eBay site". Brilliant Effort Irene and well done!!!
Burger & Chips, that's my philosophy...
Mmm...Yummy |
Naheed has created a Burger and Chips cake. This cake is covered in butter cream and so are the relish and sauces including the ketchup and mayo - very imaginatively done.
"If people never did silly things... nothing intelligent would ever get done".I think I agree with that philosophy... Wonderful modelling!
