Colette is the owner of the successful cake decorating company "Double-Take Cakes" based in Croydon, Surrey. She teaches cake decorating classes at both SCOLA and CALAT and this blog is simply a place for all her students to share the cakes they make in her classes.
From Royal Icing through to Fondant and Mexican paste, you will see it all on this blog. Cake decorating is a journey - there is always something new to learn, mistakes to be made and successes to be celebrated. Hopefully on this blog we can share that whole journey together and extend our learning from the classroom to the computer!

HOW DOES THIS BLOG WORK?
Well, it's simple really - Colette or Georgina (one of her students) will add photos from each of the classes Colette teaches to this blog, on an adhoc basis as and when something has been created or a new skill is learnt. In addition Colette will post updates on classes, tutorials and techniques for you to learn at home. This is also a great place for you to share any of your own creations you create outside of class.
Class photos will always be on the "home" page of this blog and they are in date order. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "older posts" you can read the previous posts and find photos that have been added to the blog in the past. The most recent photos will always be on the front page.
You can also click on the "blog archive" (on the right hand side of this page) if you are looking for something specific in any given month.
Looking for inspiration for a particular technique that you are learning? On the right hand side of this page you will see a heading "Cake Techniques", under this are a list of links - click on any one of these and it will bring up the blog posts relating to that technique. Obviously this blog is quite new at the moment and there isn't therefore a lot of content, but we hope as more people become involved in this popular pastime and Colette teaches more and more classes - the blog will grow and grow!
Be sure to become a follower - you need to sign up for a google account to do that (it's free) and all you need is an email address. Click on "Follow" and then follow the instructions to set your account up.
If you don't want to become a "follower" and set up your own account, but still want updates on the blog and any class news - then sign up to receive updates via email. Enter your details in the "follow by email" box and click submit.
Finally - we want to know what you do outside of class too - If you create a cake outside of class we want to see it and we want you to share it with others through this blog! Tell us about your experiences in making these cakes - what went well, what was a complete disaster! Don't hold back! We want to know it all.
