Seasonal Modelling with a hint of Brush Embroidery

I have had a lot of fun this term teaching students how to cover a cake dummy with sugar paste/fondant, how to crimp, do some basic modelling and how to do the dreaded brush embroidery with royal icing.  We brush embroidered a Christmas holly leaf on to the side of the cake which is very hard (some student's skilfully turned their holly into Xmas trees, - you know who you are!! ;o) lol.  I am proud to say each and every student rose to the challenges and were able to overcome any issues encountered.  Many of the students on the course had never modelled or piped before so this was their first foray into cake decorating.

The rewarding thing about teaching for me is seeing many of the learners beginning to self analyse when things didn't quite go according to plan and understand how to rectify them in the future.

Overall, I hope everyone had as much fun making the cakes as I did watching everyone's skills develop week by week.
So well done one and all!!!!

I have divided all the photos into the college regions as I am teaching in quiet a few locations this year.  Hope you enjoy!

P.S. If you need to see an enlarged image of any of the modelling or photos double click on the image and it will become enlarged.
